Dom Wong is a singer-songwriter based in Singapore.

After picking up the guitar at the age of 12, he started out in the local music scene interpreting famous songs at school performances and street festivals. After being spotted on the streets of Orchard Road at 16 by a veteran blues musician, he eventually ventured out and found his niche in the folk music of the ’60s.

In 2008, prompted by friends and fellow musicians in Japan, Dom stopped being shy about his own songs and after a few live performances, aroused the interest of Daichi Mizobuchi, a respectable young producer, who helped record two of his most heartfelt songs ’342′ and ‘Everyday From Today’.

Today, when he is not out there serving his country, Dom spends most of his time writing new songs and keeping up with famous songs of the day.

So this year’s Singpore Arts Festival brought me to the junction of Capitol Theatre, City Hall MRT station and Raffles City. I arrived there from a full day gig at Suntec all tired and drawn out. Though the Arts festival show was cancelled due to unpredictable weather, the organizers then told my sweet manager Sarah (see her head at the bottom of the video) that they were resuming the show. The catch: I could only play two songs. So I chose my favourite ones. =)

Bon Jovi has been a big part of my life, filling it with rock ballads I could literally cry to. For those of you who actually saw the “You Want To Make A Memory” MTV, I know there’re a lot of comments on the concept not being original but it still makde me tear the first time i saw it. Maybe it’s because I’m a sucker for songs about ‘going’ or ‘leaving’ or ‘staying’… that kinda thing.

Love Story (Taylor Swift Cover)

Love Story is such a fun song for me to play simply because its a story – that starts out nice and quiet and then gets loud and emotional behind. i find it amazing how Taylor Swift managed to cut and paste Romeo and Juliet and paste them in our modern world. Makes you feel like all Juliets are waiting for their Romeos; and us Romeos? We’re just damn mean lah. =p
